With breezes comes Slight Heat, one of the 24 solar terms, which marks the beginning of hot summer. As cicadas start singing, we have spent half of 2023. Slight Heat, or Minor Heat, is the fifth solar term of summer. It marks the beginning of midsummer.
微风至，小暑来，盛夏始。在夏日的阵阵蝉鸣中，2023年已经悄然过半。小暑即为小热，这是夏天的第五个节气，进入小暑，标志着盛夏火热登场。
Many Chinese poems have described the beauty of Slight Heat. Qiao Yuanbing of the Qing Dynasty wrote in Summer,
在中国古诗词里，可遇见小暑节气之美。清代乔远炳在《夏日》诗中写道：
A breeze cools the summer and relieves worries. The Slight Heat means daytime is getting longer. Cicadas are singing on trees in a distance. Swallows are whispering on the beam.
薰风愠解引新凉，
小暑神清夏日长。
断续蝉声传远树，
呢喃燕语倚雕梁。
After Slight Heat, the weather gets hotter and hotter. Although it is hot, summer nights are the most beautiful. On summer nights, you can invite your friends out for a night tour or shopping, perhaps at the night market, where you can enjoy barbecue and cold drinks. It is really nice to talk at night beneath the beautiful lights.小暑过，每日热三分。虽然天气炎热，但盛夏夜最美。三五好友或夜游或购物，或相聚夜市，点上几份烧烤，喝几口冷饮，灯火阑珊中，好不惬意。
