Cicadas singing marks the beginning of midsummer when everything flourishes. The Summer Solstice, the fourth solar term of the summer, is the date with the longest daylight of the year. The Summer Solstice is the beginning of midsummer, announcing that the hottest time of the year is coming.
蝉始鸣，半夏生，万物繁茂时。夏至，夏季的第四个节气，也是一年中白昼最长的日子。夏至是盛夏的起点，预示着一年中最热的“伏天”正粉墨登场。
At the Summer Solstice, everything starts growing rapidly.
夏至时节，万物竞生长。
The poet Fan Chengda in the Southern Song Dynasty wrote in Rejoicing Over the Sunny Day,
南宋范成大《喜晴》诗中写道：
Outside the window plums fall off when ripe. Beneath the wall bamboo shoots become trees. Spring steals away through intermittent rains. A bright day tells how fast summer proceeds.
窗间梅熟落蒂，
墙下笋成出林。
连雨不知春去，
一晴方觉夏深。
After the Summer Solstice, rain comes and goes quickly.
夏至后的天气，时有雷雨骤来疾去。
The poet Liu Yuxi in the Tang Dynasty wrote in Bamboo Branch Song,
唐刘禹锡《竹枝词》中写道：
The west is veiled in rain, the east enjoys sunshine. My dear one is as deep in love as day is fine.
东边日出西边雨，
道是无晴却有晴。
It will be sunny when rain stops. Life is full of good times.
雨过天晴终有时，人生处处好时节。
Summer makes people feel pleasant. No other season embraces vitality and excitement like summer.
夏天是让人快乐的季节，没有哪个季节，像夏天这样激情四溢，拥有无限旺盛的生命力。
Fruits are ripening and lotus flowers are in full bloom. Autumn is the harvest season, but isn't summer actually a harvest season too? The Summer Solstice is coming. May all good things come to you!
